KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri Named Suspect in Extortion Case

SEAToday.com, Jakarta-Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police named Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chairman Firli Bahuri as a suspect in an alleged extortion case against former Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo, Wednesday (11/22).

Bahuri was named as a suspect based on a case title investigated by investigators at Corruption Crimes Subdirectorate of Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police Criminal Investigation Department and Corruption Crimes Directorate of Indonesian National Police Criminal Investigation Agency. In the legal process, the police have also examined 91 witnesses since October 9. This case began with a public report to the Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police on August 12, then entered the investigation stage based on a case title from October 6.

In this case, Firli faces charges under multiple articles related to alleged corruption in the form of extortion and gratification, carrying the threat of life imprisonment.
