130 Dutch Indonesian Researchers attended BRIN-LDE Academy 2023 to Discuss Healthy and Smart Cities

Being held from 23 to 27 October 2023, BRIN-LDE Academy 2023 was attended by 130 researchers from BRIN and 3 best universities from the Netherlands, namely Leiden, TU-Delft, and Erasmus Universities, supported by UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. They will discuss healthy and smart cities.
This is a multidisciplinary workshop that focuses on various initiatives needed to create smart, healthy, sustainable and inclusive cities. BRIN-LDE Academy aims to explore sustainable solutions to the challenges faced by metropolitan cities.
Participants have submitted their original research papers, case studies, and theoretical perspectives on three important topics, i.e. AI and the Emerging Digital Economy; Human and Environmental Relations in Cities; Cultural Heritage and Language Politics.
Professor of Anthropology of Digital Diversity at Leiden University, one of the initiators of this activity, hopes that by uniting researchers from various scientific disciplines and listening to various academic perspectives, we can overcome the problems of urban residents today.
He also said that in this forum, all participants would ask questions in different ways and learn many things from each other. The concept of smart, healthy and sustainable cities may also differ, depending on the background of each participant.
Activities carried out during the academy are panel discussions, field visits, workshops on writing academic papers and collaborative research proposals as well as discussions on joint publication of research results from this academy. This was the explanation given by the Head of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Organization, BRIN, Professor Ahmad Najib Burhani. The keyword for this activity is cocreation, he added.
BRIN-LED Academy doesn't just stop after being implemented for 5 days. The follow-up to this activity is that scientists from various backgrounds who participate in this activity are expected to form research teams and submit collaboration proposals for various research schemes, as well as expand academic networks.
