DPR RI Sets Legislative Focus on 8 Priority Bills

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said the DPR will prioritize eight draft bills (RUU) during the third sitting period of the 2024–2025 legislative year, which officially began on Thursday after the recess.
“They consist of three bills proposed by the DPR, three by the government, and two open cumulative bills,” Dasco said as quoted on Antara during the 17th plenary session held at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta.
While Dasco did not detail the titles of the bills, he confirmed all are already in the first-level discussion phase. He emphasized that the DPR will utilize its legislative and oversight roles to support national policy and safeguard the public interest amid ongoing development challenges.
“The DPR’s oversight will focus on key issues and the implementation of laws across sectors,” he stated as quoted on Antara.
He expressed hope that the government will improve public services and accelerate development.
“The DPR is also preparing to host the 19th Parliamentary Union of OIC Member States conference,” he added as quoted on Antara.
According to the DPR Secretariat, 292 of 579 total members were present at the opening of the session, representing all political party factions.
