WWF, a moment to reach one hundred percent access to drinking water by 2030

Seatoday.com – Jakarta. The 10th World Water Forum, held in Bali next year can be a great moment for the Indonesian government to achieve the target of a hundred percent access to drinking water by 2030. Indonesia will become the facilitator as well as one of the countries committed to reaching the target.

Endra S Atmawidjaja, the spokesman of the Minister of Public Works and Human Settlements (PUPR), states that giving access to drinking water to the citizens is one of the goals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It was delivered in an online discussion of The ninth Western Independence Forum, Ministry of Communication and Informatics “Global Collaboration Anticipating Water Crisis Impact of Climate Change.”

The sixth goal of SDGs is to provide clean water and proper sanitation for the community.

He also said that safe and clean drinking water is urgently needed by the people for drinking, cooking, and taking a bath. Unsafe water can cause some illnesses like diarrhea, cholera and dysentery.

Unfortunately, some countries haven’t been on the line toward the challenge, so it is important to instill the importance of collaboration to face it.

Access to drinking water become an important issue around the world. Based on the data of the United Nations, there are about 2,2 billion people around the world who don’t have access to safe clean water.

It is predicted that the number will potentially increase due to the water crisis caused by extreme climate change recently.

Indonesia will host the 10th WWF, which will be attended by the leaders and representatives of 172 countries. The event will be held on May 2024 in Bali. It will discuss the water crisis and find a solution.
