Prabowo's First Speech As The President: We Will Prioritize Interests of Indonesian People

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - On Sunday, (10/20/2024), after taking the oath at 10:31 WIB at the MPR/DPR Building in Jakarta, Prabowo Subianto delivered his first speech as president.
In his speech, Prabowo affirmed his commitment to prioritizing the interests of the Indonesian nation and people. He emphasized that his government would work for all people, regardless of political background.
"We will prioritize the interests of the Indonesian nation and people above all interests, above all groups, especially our personal interests," Prabowo stated firmly.
The Chairman of Indonesia's People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), Ahmad Muzani, also delivered a message to Prabowo and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Muzani emphasized the importance of a pro-people government and invited all attendees to applaud as a sign of respect for Prabowo and Gibran's inauguration.
"With this inauguration, starting from now, Retired Army General Haji Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka are the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 term," said Muzani.
Prabowo also acknowledged that Indonesia faces major challenges amid global dynamics. However, he is optimistic that with Indonesia's natural resources and great potential, the nation can achieve progress. One of the main targets announced by Prabowo is achieving food self-sufficiency within 4 to 5 years.
"Indonesia must achieve food self-sufficiency as soon as possible. We cannot depend on external food sources," Prabowo emphasized.
After the inauguration, Prabowo and Gibran attended a series of events at the Merdeka Palace, while President Jokowi was scheduled to return to his hometown in Solo, Central Java.
