BMKG Predicts Rain and Strong Winds Across Indonesian Cities
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Light to heavy rain is expected to affect most parts of Indonesia on Friday, December 6, 2024. "The weather is influenced by convergence zones stretching across key regions," stated BMKG forecaster Bagas Briliano. These conditions are likely to enhance cloud formation, increasing the potential for significant rainfall.
Cities like Padang, Semarang, and Surabaya are forecasted to experience heavy rain with lightning and strong winds. "Residents should remain cautious and anticipate possible weather-related disruptions," BMKG advised.
Meanwhile, regions such as Jakarta, Medan, and Bandung are predicted to see lighter rainfall, though preparedness is still encouraged.
Cloudy skies will dominate in cities like Pekanbaru, Palangkaraya, and Gorontalo. "These areas are expected to remain relatively stable, but monitoring updates is always prudent," BMKG emphasized. Coastal regions, however, face additional risks, including high tides and tidal flooding.
Sea waves are projected to reach up to 4 meters in the southern Sunda Strait and the western waters of Lampung. "We urge maritime operators to plan carefully and prioritize safety during these conditions," the agency added.
Communities in coastal zones, including the Riau Islands, Banten, and northern Jakarta, are advised to be alert to potential tidal floods. "Increased vigilance is crucial to minimize risks in vulnerable areas," BMKG concluded.
