Jakarta Metro Police Forms Congestion-Solving Team

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police formed a congestion-solving team after the Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto assessed that many people were tired of Jakarta's congestion.
“We want to form a congestion-breaking team that can be immediately deployed to the congestion hotspots,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (2/11).
The congestion-busting team numbers around 60-80 personnel. “The personnel will use trail motorcycles so the locations, especially in the congestion lane area, can be immediately decongested with the team's presence,” he said.
This team will not only consist of traffic police, but also personnel from Patrol Unit (Sabhara) and Mobile Brigade (Brimob). This aims to ensure public safety so that traffic management will be more effective.
In congestion-breaking methods, Kartoyo said there were a number of special arrangements. One of them is the discretionary adjustment of the traffic light cycle. In addition, officers will also use loudspeakers to provide information to the public directly. This is expected to increase riders’ awareness.
