Franz "Der Kaiser" Beckenbauer Passes Away

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - German national team and Bayern Munich legend Franz Beckenbauer has died at the age of 78. The legend, nicknamed "Der Kaiser" died on Monday (1/8) local time.
The news of Beckenbauer's death was confirmed by his family. Beckenbauer himself had been battling several illnesses in recent years, including dementia, heart disease and Parkinson's disease.
During his career, Beckenbauer won the European Cup (1972) and World Cup (1974) as a player, and the World Cup (1990) as coach of the German national team. The president of the German Football Association (DFB), Bernd Neuendorf, paid tribute to Beckenbauer. He paid tribute to Beckenbauer's contribution to German football as a player and as the man who presented the World Cup trophy.
