The Geong Glass Bridge Broke, Here is the Latest Condition of the Four Victims

Seatoday.com – Jakarta. There were four victims of the incident of glass bridge in The Geong, Limpakuwus Pine Forest, Banyumas Regency, Central Java. One person died, one person was still wounded, while 2 others survived.

The tourist, named A, was still being treated in hospital. She has begun to regain consciousness and could tell the chronology of the incident. She could still remember the beginning of walking on the bridge, but when the glass broke, she no longer remembered because she fainted. When she woke up, she was already in the hospital.

The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kasat Reskrim) of the Banyumas City Police (Polresta) Police Commissioner Agus Supriyadi said that A had a broken hip and was still under medical monitoring.

The four tourists were victims of the 15-meter-high glass bridge breaking. The incident happened when they were taking a selfie on the bridge. Suddenly the glass they stepped on broke and they fell. Two survivors held on to the frame.

The police have collected information from 12 witnesses, including the ride owner, to reveal this case.

Agus said that the vehicle's security system was considered inadequate. There are no written rules regarding standard operating procedures (SOP) for tourists.

Based on the information from the owner, there was no feasibility test in the construction of this glass bridge, Agus added. A construction like this should have a standardized feasibility test issued by the relevant parties to maintain tourist safety.

This glass bridge was constructed 11 months before being operated on Eid al-Fitr this year. This bridge was damaged on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.
