The Madiun Food Task Force Monitors the Availability of Basic Commodities

Seatoday.com, Jakarta The Madiun Food Task Force monitored the availability of basic commodities in the market on Thursday, October 26th, 2023. The monitoring aimed to ensure there was no shortage of commodities due to hoarding by an irresponsible person.
Located in the Madiun big market, the Food Task Force Team, which is a combination of the Madiun City Police, Trade Office, and several related OPDs, monitored the availability and supply of basic commodities. Monitoring results show that the stock of basic commodities in the city of Madiun is classified as safe, even though there were price increases on some of them.
For example, the price of sugar has reached IDR 16,000 from IDR 13,000 previously. The price of cayenne pepper has almost doubled. The price of rice was still relatively high, i.e., IDR 14,000 for the medium type.
The Chief of Madiun City Police, AKBP Agus Dwi Suryanto, told the journalists that food stocks in the Madiun market were monitored to be safe. Several prices had increased. The Food Task Force has coordinated intensively and carried out some checks every day in the field. He ensured that he would take decisive action if hoarding was found. It would be subject to sanctions according to the regulations.
The head of the Trade Office responded to the increase in several commodities by making intensive efforts to carry out market operations. They would also encourage cooperation between regions.
Ansar also said that the increase occurred due to a decrease in production from sugar factories.
Meanwhile, the prices of chilies and rice have increased due to decreased production due to the impacts of the long dry season caused by the El Nino phenomenon.
