Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo Urges Citizens in Japan to be Aware of Typhoon Shanshan

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Indonesian citizens in Japan are advised to be vigilant as Typhoon Shanshan is expected to hit the western and eastern regions of the country on Tuesday, 27 August 2024 to Wednesday, 28 August 2024.

The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo released an appeal regarding Typhoon Shanshan. It said that bad weather could cause landslides and the suspension of public transport services.

Through a post on the official Instagram account of the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, Sunday, 25 August 2024, Indonesian citizens in Japan are advised to:

  • Always be careful and monitor the development of information from official government sources.
  • Review travel plans that will be carried out.
  • Prepare sufficient logistics / basic necessities.
  • Identify the nearest safe area / evacuation centre if evacuation is required.
  • Communicate with family and connect with the local Indonesian community.

"In an emergency, immediately call 119 (ambulance, fire department)," the caption reads.
