SEAToday.com, Beirut - Israeli strikes in Lebanon on Monday (9/23) killed 492 people and injured 1,645 others, said the Lebanese Health Ministry.

Among those who were killed were 35 children and 58 women. The attacks also forced thousands of Lebanese to flee the south, heading toward Beirut. The attack came after the country was still reeling from the deadly attack on communication devices last week.

The Israeli military warned residents in southern and eastern Lebanon to evacuate ahead of its widening air campaign against Hezbollah. In a recorded message, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu urged Lebanese civilians to “take this warning seriously”.

“Once our operation is finished, you can come back safely to your homes,” he said.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres expressed concerns at the escalation, saying  he did not want Lebanon to “become another Gaza.”
