9 Orang Meninggal di India karena Gelombang Panas Sebabkan Suhu Hampir 50 Celsius
SEAToday.com, New Delhi - Sedikitnya sembilan orang meninggal dunia di negara bagian Rajasthan, India bagian barat, diduga disebabkan oleh penyakit yang berhubungan dengan suhu panas, Jumat (25/5).
Pada hari Kamis, suhu udara di banyak negara bagian di India melampaui 45 derajat Celcius, termasuk kota Barmer, Rajasthan, yang bahkan mencapai 48,8 derajat Celcius. Departemen cuaca India telah memperkirakan bahwa suhu akan terus meningkat dalam beberapa hari ke depan.
Suhu panas ini telah menyebabkan kekhawatiran karena India akan mengadakan putaran terakhir dari tujuh tahap pemilihan umum mereka minggu depan. Ibu kota New Delhi, akan melakukan pemungutan suara pada hari Sabtu dengan suhu yang diperkirakan akan mencapai sekitar 45 derajat Celcius.
Suhu musim panas di India biasanya mencapai puncaknya pada bulan Mei. Namun, tahun ini, para ilmuwan memperkirakan gelombang panas yang berlangsung lebih panjang yang dikarenakan berkurangnya hujan dan aktifnya fenomena El Nino.
