SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Lewotobi Laki Volcano in Wulanggitang District, East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) erupted again on Wednesday (12/3) night at 22:03 WITA.

The height of the ash column was observed to reach about 800 meters above the mountain peak or about 2,384 meters above sea level (mdpl).

The ash column was observed to be gray in color with a thin intensity leaning towards the northwest. This eruption was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 4.4 mm and a duration of approximately 1 minute 42 seconds.

Previously, the Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) also recorded the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki with the height of the ash column reaching approximately 800 meters.

“There was an eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at 15:05 WITA with the height of the ash column observed to be approximately 800 meters above the peak or approximately 2,384 meters above sea level,” said Observer of the Lewotobi Laki-Laki Volcano Post Herman Yosef Mboro in a public report, Wednesday (12/3).

The height of the ash column in the eruption was observed to be gray with a thick intensity leaning towards the west.

The eruption was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 4.4 millimeters (mm) and a duration of approximately one minute 23 seconds.

Currently, Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki is still at Level III or Alert status.

Therefore, there are a number of recommendations issued, namely urging people around Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki and visitors or tourists not to carry out any activities within a radius of five kilometers from the eruption center of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki and the southwest-north-northeast sectoral area of six kilometers.

The public is also urged to be calm and follow the directions of the local government and not to believe in issues that have unclear sources.

In addition, it is also necessary to be aware of the potential for rain lava floods on rivers that head up at the top of the mountain if there is high intensity rain, especially the Dulipali, Padang Pasir, Nobo, Klatanlo, Hokengjaya, Boru, and Nawakote areas.

“People affected by Mount Lewotobi ashfall should wear masks or nose-mouth covers to avoid the dangers of volcanic ash on the respiratory system,” he said.
