SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) expects rain today in major Indonesian cities like Jakarta, Pekanbaru, Samarinda, Tanjung Selor, and Nabire on (10/29/2024).
BMKG forecaster Yohanes AK notes that Sumatra will see varied weather, with Banda Aceh and Padang remaining cloudy, while Pekanbaru and Tanjung Pinang may experience light rain.
“Be cautious of heavy rain potential in Medan,” Yohanes advised, as reported by ANTARA.
In Java, conditions are expected to be hazy in Semarang and Surabaya, while Jakarta and Bandung can expect light rain. For Bali and Nusa Tenggara, cloudy skies are forecast in Denpasar and Kupang, with light rain anticipated in Mataram.
Kalimantan will see thick clouds in Pontianak, light rain in Samarinda and Banjarmasin, and moderate rain in Palangkaraya. Additionally, thunderstorms are possible in Tanjung Selor.
Eastern Indonesia is expected to be mostly cloudy in areas like Ternate, Sorong, and Manokwari, with light rain in Ambon, Nabire, Jayapura, and moderate rain in Merauke.
BMKG also warns of wave heights between 0.5 to 2.5 meters and strong winds exceeding 25 knots in the South China Sea and Arafura Sea, potentially raising sea waves in surrounding waters.
