SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Maliq & D'Essentials brought the entire series of events for the 79th Indonesian Independence Day Ceremony to a festive close at Istana Merdeka, Jakarta, on Saturday (August 17, 2024).

The ceremony concluded with a lively performance by Maliq & D'Essentials, who performed seven songs, including "Kita Bikin Romantis," "Dia," "Terdiam," "Aduh," "Drama Romantika," "Pilihanku," and ended with "Menari."

The attending guests were enthusiastic, dancing and singing along with Maliq & D'Essentials throughout the performance. The Gita Bahana Nusantara choir also joined in the singing, capturing the moment as part of the celebration.

This year’s 79th Independence Day Ceremony was unique, held in two locations: IKN and Jakarta. President Joko Widodo, along with First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo, led the ceremony in IKN, while the Jakarta ceremony was led by Vice President Ma'ruf Amin and Second Lady Wury Estu Handayani.

The theme for this year's Independence Day celebration, "Nusantara Baru Indonesia Maju," reflects the spirit of transition as the nation's capital moves from Jakarta to IKN.
