Minister AHY Won Best Dressed at the 79th Indonesian Independence Day Ceremony in IKN

SEAToday.com, IKN - Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning, along with his wife, Annisa Pohan, were chosen as the winners of the Best Dressed award at the 79th Indonesian Independence Day Ceremony held in IKN on Saturday (August 17, 2024).

According to the YouTube live stream by the Presidential Secretariat, AHY appeared in an all-white traditional outfit, matching his wife’s attire. On his Instagram account, AHY shared that the outfit originated from Central Kalimantan.

"In celebrating the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia in Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN), my wife and I wore Baamar Galung Pancar Matahari, traditional attire from Kotawaringin Barat, Central Kalimantan," AHY wrote.

He further explained that the outfit is typically worn by brides and grooms from the Banjar tribe, "which features distinct colours and dazzling details, making it seem as though it’s bathed in sunlight."

During the Flag-Lowering Ceremony, AHY changed into a traditional maroon outfit. "We are all grateful to celebrate independence with pride in our cultural heritage. It is a symbol of unity that reflects the diversity and beauty of Indonesia," he added.
