Indonesia Opens up Partnership with Hong Kong in Education Sector

SEAToday.com, Hong Kong - Indonesia has the opportunity to collaborate in the education sector with Hong Kong.

This was after the meeting between the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong, Yul Edison, and the Vice President of the University of Hong Kong (HKU), Professor Ian Holliday on Monday (19/2/2024).

As quoted from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, Professor Holliday expressed his interest in the possibility of collaborating with three to four universities in Indonesia. In terms of student exchange, HKU has around 400 partner universities.

The Vice President of HKU revealed the possibility of increasing the foreign student quota at HKU from 300 students to 600 students as well as the existence of a scholarship program for doctoral students.

At the same meeting, Consulate General Yul Edison also promoted several educational scholarships owned by Indonesia and mentioned the importance of increasing Indonesian students' interest in higher education in Hong Kong.

Professor Ian Holliday and Consul General Yul Edison expressed the same opinion regarding the potential for cooperation in the field of education between universities in Indonesia and HKU.
