4 Papua Students Will Represents Indonesia In Asia International Math Olympics

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Four students from Timika, Papua will take part in an international mathematics competition at the Asian level, namely the Asia International Mathematical Olympiad (AIMO) in Tokyo, Japan on August 2-6.
Quoted from Antara, the four elementary and junior high school students of the Taruna Papua Boarding School (SATP) are Yulian Diwitau, Eka Balinol, Derinus Janampa, and Yoram Kum Uamang. They previously won the AIMO competition held at the Hidayatullah Integral School, Timika, Mimika Regency last May.
"The final of this competition will be held in Tokyo, Japan. We are proud because these four children can represent Indonesia," said YPMAK Management Chairman Leonardus Tumuka in Timika.
Yulian is currently in grade 4 of elementary school, while Eka Balinol is a grade 5 student at SATP elementary school. Both qualified for the Asian level after winning gold medals.
Meanwhile, Derinos is a grade 8 student at SATP junior high school and Yoram Kum Uamang is a grade 7 student at SATP junior high school. Both won silver medals.
As preparation, these four students will be further trained at the sATP achievement center unit for academic, psychological, and mental preparation. This is so that they are ready to take part in international competitions abroad.
"Our four younger siblings prove that Papuan children can also achieve proud achievements, as long as they are given the opportunity, of course with effort and hard work supported by all parties," he said.
