Health Ministry Prioritizes High-Risk Groups for Monkey Pox Vaccination
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Health Ministry said that based on recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO), monkeypox vaccination will be given to high-risk groups such as men who have sexual encounters with men, as well as people who have been in contact with patients in the past two weeks.
Health Ministry’s Immunization Management Director Prima Yosephine said on Wednesday (8/28), “Other high-risk groups include laboratory workers who conduct virological specimen examinations, especially in areas with Mpox cases, and health workers who treat Mpox cases.”
The vaccination of monkeypox in Indonesia is of a preventive manner and the type of vaccine used is from the Modified Vaccinia Ankara-Bavarian Nordic (MVA-BN) class. However, the availability of vaccines is still limited, so areas that report the case will be prioritized.
Specifically in Bali, vaccination will be carried out during the Indonesia Africa Forum international meeting on September 1-3.
