SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Digital payments using the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) Tap based on Near Field Communication (NFC) will be implemented in several public transportation systems in Jakarta, such as the MRT, LRT, and Transjakarta.

Bank Indonesia (BI) DKI Jakarta Representative Head Arlyana Abubakar said on Monday (2/10), “QRIS Tap NFC has been tested on Damri buses, and QRIS Tap NFC is already planned to be applied to other transportation modes in Jakarta.”

This payment method will make it easier for users, as they will only need to hold their mobile phone, equipped with NFC technology and a mobile banking application, to make payments.

Currently, BI is preparing to implement QRIS Tap NFC payments, not only in Jakarta but also in Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi. Additionally, this payment method is targeted to be introduced in stores or MSMEs as an evolution of conventional QRIS.
