ICC Issues Arrest Warrants for Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu
SEAToday.com, Netherlands - The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and Hamas military commander Mohammed Diab Ibrahim Al-Masri, also known as Mohammed Deif, for alleged war crimes in Gaza.
In a statement on Thursday (11/21), the Netherlands-based court found "reasonable grounds" to believe that Netanyahu and Gallant are criminally responsible for war crimes, including "starvation as a method of warfare" and "crimes against humanity, including murder, persecution and others".
Meanwhile, Mohammed Deif is accused of committing "crimes against humanity, including murder, extermination, torture, and rape and other forms of sexual violence".
Although Israel claimed to have killed Deif, ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan clarified that information obtained from Israeli and Palestinian sources regarding Deif's death remains inconclusive. Therefore, the arrest warrant against him remains valid.
