It is suspected that due to extremely hot weather, there was a big fire in Rawa Kucing Landfill Tangerang. The fire started on Friday, 20 October 2023 at 13.45 West Indonesian Time. The fire lasted four days.
Firefighters immediately went to the location after receiving information from residents.
By operating 34 fire extinguishing units, 15 officers were dispatched to the location of the fire. Today, BNPB (Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana) or the National Board for Disaster Management, which was involved in handling the fire, deployed a water bombing helicopter to deal with the fire.
The big fire on the Rawa Kucing landfill caused some bad impacts on the surroundings.

- Seven airlines were affected by this incident because the thick smoke affected visibility during the flight landing process at Soekarno Hatta International Airport
- The Tangerang city government must prepare alternative waste disposal to overcome the non-functioning of the landfill.
