The Health Office of DKI Jakarta appealed to the public not to panic about monkeypox. However, they have to be careful with the transmission of it.
Ngabila Salama, Section Head of Surveillance, Epidemiology and Immunization of DKI Jakarta Health Office said that the public must beware of the spread of monkeypox. It can be spread through droplets of saliva which contaminate the environment by physical contact, wound contact, body fluids, and sexual contact.
She explained further about some ways to prevent the transmission of monkeypox.
First, we have to wear face masks, wash our hands in water flow using soap, and avoid physical contact with people suspected of the symptoms.
When someone feels the symptoms of monkey pox, like fever, water-filled blisters or sores on the skin, especially accompanied by typical symptoms of monkeypox, namely lumps or enlarged lymph nodes in the armpits, neck, or groin, she/he has to visit a health facility immediately.
For close contacts of positive cases, a laboratory examination will also be carried out immediately. The examination is for early detection and treatment.
