Requested to add bicycle lanes, the DKI government budget was nullified by the Council

Seatoday.com – Jakarta. The chief of DKI Transportation Department, Syafrin Liputo ensured that there won’t be a construction of the bicycle lanes in Jakarta as the budget is nullified because it is considered unimportant.
Previously, the member of the Development Commission of DKI Representative Council Agus Hamonangan required the DKI government to add bicycle lanes as a form of concern for the environment.
He said that it would be better for Jakarta if there were additional bicycle lanes that are qualified and in good condition. It should also care about the environment including greening efforts. Agus explained about it when confirmed in Jakarta, on Monday, October 23rd, 2023.
He thought that the policy of bicycle lane termination should accommodate the biker's aspiration which is given organizationally as well as individually. He added that the revocation of broken stick cones must get our attention because the use of road spikes reflecting light is considered a squandering budget.
The other legislative member, Yuke Yurike, judged that the government must review the effectiveness of installing road spikes on the lanes. However, she thought that it was more practical.
DKI Transportation Department has allocated the construction of bicycle lanes budget, which is worth 38 billion rupiahs in the 2022 DKI Budgeting Draft. Besides, there was also a budget for evaluating the bicycle lanes, two billion rupiahs.
Unfortunately, some members of Commission B, said that it is unnecessary. The project will waste the budget. Finally, the budget draft is nullified.
Syafrin decided that next year, the DKI Transportation Department will focus on motorcycle lanes.
