Taylor Swift Postpones Second Rio Concert Due to Overheat Concerns After Fan’s Death

SEAToday.com, Rio de Janeiro - Taylor Swift postponed her second Eras Tour show in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Swift announced the news on her Instagram story on Saturday (11/18), stating “extreme temperatures” as the reason and prioritizing the safety of her fans, artists, and crew.
On the first day of her concert, Friday (17/11), one of her fans reportedly died. Many people suspect that the cause was related to the extreme heat, although the officials have not announced the cause of death.
Currently, a dangerous heat wave is sweeping the majority of Brazil, with Rio breaking a record-high temperature of 58.5 degree Celsius on Tuesday. Reportedly, concert-goers were not allowed to bring water into the stadium during the Friday concert. In several videos posted on social media, the crowd could be seen chanting for water during the show. Swift herself could also be seen stopping her performance multiple times to ask for water to be distributed to her fans.
