SEAToday.com, New YorkThe United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres on Friday (6/21) voiced his concern over the escalating tension between Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah along the Blue Line.

Speaking at the UN Headquarter, Guterres warned about the catastrophe that could happen beyond the border if any wrong move was taken. He pressed that the widening of the conflict must be avoided, as both sides of the Blue Line had lost many lives and suffered destruction. Guterres urged for immediate de-escalation with no military solution.

Tension along the Blue Line has been rising since October 7 as the Iran-backed Hezbollah declared solidarity with Palestine. Israeli military on Tuesday approved an offensive plan to Southern Lebanon. Hezbollah Leader Hassan Nasrallah reportedly responded on Thursday with a stern warning of war to Israel.
