SEAToday.com, Gaza - Badan PBB untuk pengungsi Palestina (UNRWA) pada Sabtu (15/6) melaporkan lebih dari 50.000 anak-anak di Gaza membutuhkan perawatan untuk mengatasi kekurangan gizi akut.
Anak-anak di Gaza menghadapi kelaparan karena akses masuk bantuan kemanusiaan ke dalam daerah tersebut masih dibatasi. UNRWA mengatakan akan terus bekerja untuk membantu keluarga-keluarga tersebut, namun mereka juga menggambarkan situasi tersebut sebagai “bencana”.
Badan PBB lainnya, UNICEF, pada Selasa (11/6) memperingatkan bahwa sebanyak 3.000 anak di Gaza selatan berisiko meninggal akibat kekurangan gizi akut. Penobatan anak-anak tersebut terhadap kekurangan gizi terpaksa terhenti karena akses bantuan kemanusiaan di wilayah selatan telah menurun drastis.
Hasil awal dari pemeriksaan baru-baru ini menunjukkan peningkatan malnutrisi sedang dan berat sejak minggu kedua bulan Mei, ketika akses bantuan kemanusiaan mulai dibatasi setelah serangan Israel ke Rafah.
