UNRWA: Aid Delivery to Northern Gaza Hindered by Israeli Shooting, Denied Access
SEAToday.com, Gaza - The UN Agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) on Wednesday (2/28) said that they are still unable to safely deliver humanitarian aid to northern Gaza.
“Aid convoys reportedly continue to come under fire and are denied access by the Israeli authorities,” UNRWA said in a statement.
The agency previously announced that the aid delivery into Gaza dropped 50 percent in February. The number of trucks entering Gaza were also still below the target of 500 trucks per day due to security constraints and temporary closures in both Karm Abu Salem and Rafah crossings.
UN recent findings also showed a spike in malnutrition in Gaza had reached 16.2 percent, exceeding WHO’s critical threshold at 15 percent. The Gaza Health Ministry on Wednesday reported that six babies had died due to severe malnutrition at Kamal Adwan Hospital in Northern Gaza. In addition, two babies were also declared dead of malnutrition at Al Shifa Medical Complex.
