SEAToday.com, Gaza - The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestine Refugees on Mon (2/26) said that compared to January, humanitarian aid entering Gaza in February experienced a 50% reduction.

The UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini wrote on his X post that the aid was supposed to increase as 2 million Palestinians are living in desperate conditions. He listed the lack of political will and security as one of the reasons. He also wrote that a ceasefire and lifting the siege that would allow life saving aid are “long overdue”.

Meanwhile, UN official Stephane Dujarric also pointed out that UNRWA also mentioned that none of the humanitarian convoys had reached northern Gaza since January 23. He stressed the need for more entry points and safe routes into Gaza. "Almost 1,000 trucks carrying 15,000 metric tons of food are in Egypt ready to move,” he said.

Israel had faced genocide accusation at the ICJ on January and an interim ruling had been issued to take measures to guarantee the delivery of aid for Palestinians in Gaza.
