SEAToday.com, Seoul - South Korean impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol has been detained for questioning by the law enforcement officials, Wednesday (1/15). Yoon was brought into custody at the Corruption Investigation Office for High-Ranking Officials (CIO) office in Gwacheon.

President Yoon was wanted over his brief imposition of martial law last month. The anti-corruption agency is leading a joint investigation with police and the military over whether his declaration amounted to an attempted rebellion. The officials sought to bring him into custody after he ignored several summons.

Following his detainment, President Yoon released a pre-recorded video calling the investigation over him as "illegal" and "law has completely collapsed in this country", but staying that he complied to prevent clashes between law enforcement officials and presidential security service.

The current issued warrant only allows investigators to hold President Yoon for up to 48 hours. Investigators would have to ask for court's permission to make a formal arrest to detain him further.
