Paus Fransiskus Resmikan Patung Kelahiran Yesus di Atas Keffiyeh
SEAToday.com, Kota Vatikan - Pemimpin Gereja Katolik Paus Fransiskus, Sabtu (7/12) meresmikan adegan kelahiran Yesus tahunan di Vatikan. Tahun ini, adegan tersebut menampilkan Bayi Yesus yang dibaringkan di atas Keffiyeh Palestina.
Adegan yang sebagian besar terbuat dari kayu zaitun ini dimaksudkan sebagai simbol perdamaian dan harapan. Adegan itu dibuat di bawah bimbingan Komite Kepresidenan Palestina untuk Urusan Gereja, Kedutaan Besar Palestina untuk Vatikan, dan sejumlah pihak lainnya. Para perwakilan organisasi tersebut turut hadir dalam acara ini.
Dalam pidatonya, Paus Fransiskus menyerukan dihentikannya perang dan kekerasan yang ada di dunia, terutama di Tanah Suci.
“Cukup dengan perang, cukup dengan kekerasan!” pinta Paus Fransiskus, mengulangi kecaman kerasnya terhadap industri senjata yang tumbuh subur di atas perang dan kematian.
