Ahead of Nyepi, Ketapang-Gilimanuk Crossing Closed

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Ahead of Nyepi Day, the crossing from Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi Regency, East Java to Gilimanuk Port, Bali was closed on Friday (3/28) at 17.00 WIB.
The closure of the Ketapang-Gilimanuk crossing is to honor Hindus who will celebrate Nyepi Day on Saturday (3/29).
“We are informed that starting tomorrow, the crossing from Banyuwangi to Bali will be closed at 17.00 WIB. This is to honor our brothers and sisters who will carry out Nyepi,” said East Java Police Dirlantas Kombes Pol. Komarudin, Thursday (3/27).
The crossing route between East Java and Bali will reopen after the implementation of Nyepi on March 30, 2025.
For this reason, people who want to travel to Bali are advised to maximize the remaining time before the closure.
“Please if you want to take a road trip to Bali before 17.00 WIB,” he said.
However, every motorized rider is reminded to pay attention to safety aspects when traveling across the province.
In addition, it also prepares matters related to the readiness of ship tickets as a means of crossing between islands.
“And the ticket system is online, from now on it might be possible,” he said.
Meanwhile, the temporary closure of this crossing route has caused a surge in the number of people from Bali entering East Java through Ketapang Port in Banyuwangi.
Until H-3 Nyepi Day and H-4 Eid al-Fitr 2025, the percentage has reached up to 65 percent.
