SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Heru Budi Hartono, announced that there will be a farewell ceremony for President Joko Widodo following the handover event with President-elect Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Sunday, October 20.

"Yes, there will be a small procession at the Palace, a farewell ceremony, including military troops," said Heru at the Presidential Palace on Friday as quoted from Antara.

Heru explained that President Joko Widodo will attend the inauguration of President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka at the MPR/DPR/DPD RI Building. Afterward, Jokowi will return to the Palace to welcome Prabowo and participate in a handover ceremony before heading to Solo.

After being inaugurated in the parliament building, Prabowo Subianto will travel to the Palace with a motorcade that the public can witness.

According to Heru, the Jakarta provincial government has prepared entertainment stages at 13 locations along Prabowo’s route to the Merdeka Palace.

"There will be an opportunity to greet the public naturally. And here at the Palace, we are preparing for around 1,000 people to attend, 500 on each side of the street, without formal invitations," Heru said.

The public can also watch the entire inauguration and handover ceremony live on television and on videotrons across Jakarta.
