79th Indonesian Armed Forces Anniversary Ceremony: President Jokowi Rides a Maung Pindad to Inspect Troops
SEAToday.com, Jakarta – Upon arriving at the 79th anniversary celebration of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) on Saturday (10/5) at Lapangan Silang Monas, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) immediately assumed his role as the ceremony inspector. President Jokowi inspected the readiness of the troops by riding a Maung vehicle made by PT Pindad with the vehicle number “Indonesia 1”.
Dressed in a sharp black suit, Jokowi, accompanied by the Indonesian Armed Forces Commander General Agus Subiyanto, circled the ceremony area while carefully observing the troops from the three branches – Army, Navy, and Air Force. Over 100,000 personnel attended the ceremony.
After completing the inspection, Jokowi returned to his position as ceremony inspector and continued the anniversary event. Besides President Jokowi, several officials attended as invited guests, including Vice President Ma’ruf Amin and President-elect Prabowo Subianto.
Other prominent figures outside the Armed Forces were also present, such as National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan, and Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita.
Also in attendance were Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning / Head of BPN Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto, National Development Planning Minister Suharso Monoarfa, and several other ministers.
Former Vice President Boediono, Sinta Nuriyah Wahid (the wife of the 4th President Abdurrahman Wahid), Titiek Soeharto, and Prabowo Subianto’s son, Didit Hediprasetyo, along with several other invited guests, were also present.
