SEAToday.com, Jakarta - TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto led a solemn visit to the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery (TMP) in Jakarta on Friday, (October/4/2024). This visit was part of the 79th anniversary celebration of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI). Accompanied by other top military officials, Agus paid tribute to the fallen heroes of the nation.

General Agus Subiyanto emphasized the importance of this annual tradition. "This flower-laying ceremony is a tribute to our fallen heroes as part of TNI’s 79th anniversary," he said after the visit. He specifically mentioned paying respects at the grave of former President B.J. Habibie and other notable figures.

The event began with a formal ceremony in front of the cemetery, followed by flower-laying at various graves. General Agus, accompanied by Jakarta Military Area Commander Major General Granada Baay, first visited B.J. Habibie’s grave. After a brief prayer, flowers were scattered over the late president’s grave as a sign of respect.

Along with the TNI Commander, the heads of the Army, Navy, and Air Force also paid their respects. Generals Maruli Simanjuntak, Muhammad Ali, and Marshal Tonny Harjono followed suit by scattering flowers at President Habibie’s grave.

The tribute continued to other graves, including the graves of revolutionary heroes and former high-ranking military officers. The atmosphere remained respectful, with TNI musicians performing "Gugur Bunga" by Ismail Marzuki throughout the event.

This commemoration is one of many activities for the 79th anniversary of TNI, with events such as health services, military fairs, and sports activities.
