Indonesia and UAE Announce 8 Strategic MoUs in Front of Presidents Prabowo and MBZ

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced the signing of eight memoranda of understanding (MoUs) in a high-level ceremony witnessed by President Prabowo Subianto and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ) at Qasr Al Shatie Palace, Abu Dhabi, on Wednesday.
Four of the MoUs represent government-to-government (G2G) cooperation, while the other four are business-to-business (B2B) agreements involving both public and private sectors.
According to the Indonesian Presidential Secretariat, the agreements cover diverse areas, including energy transition, food security, counterterrorism, trade, and religious values.
The announcement followed a closed-door bilateral meeting between the two leaders, which lasted about two hours. The eight MoUs are:
- Letter of Intent between the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Indonesia’s Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs on Nature and Climate Partnership;
- Second Protocol Amendment to the MoU on Maritime and Fisheries Cooperation;
- MoU between the UAE Ministry of Interior and Indonesian National Police on Security and Counterterrorism Cooperation;
- MoU between Indonesia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs and the UAE Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, and Zakat on Islamic and Waqf cooperation;
- MoU on Milk Production Investment between Indonesia’s Directorate General of Livestock and UAE’s Al-Ain Farms;
- MoU between Ninety Degree General Trading LLC and PT Pindad;
- Agreement on expanding the capacity of the Cirata Solar Power Plant;
- MoU between PT PLN and Abu Dhabi’s MASDAR on the development of a 100 MW floating solar plant at Jatigede.
Before departure, Prabowo noted that one goal of his Middle East visit was to “consult with regional leaders, particularly about Indonesia’s plan to evacuate civilians from Gaza.”
From Abu Dhabi, he continued his diplomatic trip to Ankara, Turkey.
