Police Chief Grants Posthumous Promotions to Officers Killed in Cockfighting Raid

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has posthumously promoted three officers who lost their lives during a raid on an illegal cockfighting gambling operation in Way Kanan, Lampung, on Monday (3/17).

"The National Police Chief extends the highest appreciation to all officers, especially in light of this incident, where three personnel have been awarded extraordinary posthumous promotions," said Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, Head of the Public Information Bureau of the National Police's Public Relations Division, at a press conference in South Jakarta on Tuesday, as quoted on Antara.

The three officers honored are:

  • Iptu Lusiyanto, previously the Chief of Negara Batin Police, was promoted to AKP (Anumerta) Lusiyanto.
  • Bripka Petrus Apriyanto was promoted to Aipda (Anumerta) Petrus Apriyanto.
  • Bripda M. Ghalib Surya Ganta was promoted to Briptu (Anumerta) M. Ghalib Surya Ganta.

Brig. Gen. Trunoyudo stated that an official decree has been issued confirming that the officers died in the line of duty.

"This decree from the National Police Chief will facilitate support for the victims' families in obtaining compensation," he added as quoted on Antara.

Expressing deep condolences, he emphasized the dedication of the fallen officers.

"The National Police mourns this tragic loss. We extend our deepest sympathies to the families and honor these officers who served with utmost dedication to the community," he said as quoted on Antara.

As of now, autopsies are being conducted at Bhayangkara Hospital, Polda Lampung.
