SEAToday.com, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto held a limited meeting with several cabinet ministers at his residence in Hambalang, Bogor, on Sunday to discuss the acceleration of downstream industry development and assess projects that generate job opportunities.

Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Roeslani stated that the president emphasized prioritizing projects with the highest multiplier effect on employment.

"We analyzed all projects and identified those with the greatest positive impact, particularly in job creation," Rosan said in an official statement as quoted on Antara.

The government has inventoried downstream projects in sectors such as minerals, coal, aquaculture, agriculture, and plantations. These projects are evaluated based on their potential to reduce imports, increase exports, and strengthen national industrial competitiveness.

President Prabowo stressed that downstreaming should not stop at early stages but serve as a gateway to broader industrialization. He also highlighted the importance of involving local farmers and communities to enhance their welfare.

Additionally, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia stated that the meeting followed up on the implementation of 21 priority downstream projects. The president instructed that these projects should prioritize employment, integrate technology with labor-intensive processes, and support import substitution industries.

President Prabowo also emphasized the need for balanced investment distribution across Indonesia, ensuring economic benefits are not concentrated in a single region.

The meeting was attended by key ministers, including the Minister of State Secretariat, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and executives from Danantara, alongside security and energy sector leaders.
