SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The International Court of Justice (ICJ) announced on Wednesday (3/12) that it will hold a public hearing to discuss Israel’s obligations towards the United Nations, international organizations, and third parties regarding the occupied Palestinian territories.

"The Court will hold a public sitting, which will begin on Monday, April 28, 2025, at the Peace Palace in The Hague, the seat of the Court," the ICJ stated as quoted on Antara.

The proceedings, initiated following a request for an advisory opinion, have garnered responses from various countries and entities. According to the statement, 45 official submissions from different nations were filed within the timeframe set by the ICJ president’s order on December 23. The African Union was granted an exceptional extension beyond the original deadline.

Contributors include countries from multiple continents, such as Chile, Malaysia, Russia, Turkey, Pakistan, Qatar, Spain, South Africa, Ireland, Saudi Arabia, China, the Netherlands, Brazil, Egypt, Israel, France, the United States, and Palestine. Major international organizations, including the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Arab League, have also provided their perspectives.

In line with Article 106 of the ICJ rules, written statements may be published after the oral proceedings commence.

Israel is also facing a separate ICJ case on genocide allegations related to its war in Gaza, which has killed approximately 50,000 Palestinians since October 2023 and left much of the territory in ruins.
