SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), Simon Aloysius Mantiri, has publicly shared his personal phone number to receive reports from the public regarding irregularities in fuel quality and any misconduct in the field.

“In addition to our call center at 135, I am also providing my personal number, 081417081945, specifically for this purpose,” Simon stated, as quoted on Antara, during a press conference at Grha Pertamina, Jakarta, on Monday.

He explained that, for now, the number can only receive SMS messages. However, he intends to register it for use with WhatsApp in the near future.

This initiative encouraged the public to report any discrepancies related to fuel quality or the conduct of Pertamina personnel through the provided number.

During the press conference, Simon also addressed the increased energy demand during Ramadan. He emphasized Pertamina’s responsibility to ensure a stable energy supply and seamless service to meet public needs, particularly during the annual homecoming exodus (mudik).

“To that end, we remain fully committed to maintaining smooth operations so that the Idul Fitri holiday can proceed without disruption,” he affirmed as quoted on Antara.

Simon also took the opportunity to apologize for the public concern arising from allegations of corruption in crude oil and refinery product management.

He reaffirmed Pertamina’s commitment to improving its governance and ensuring that the fuel it provides meets government-mandated quality standards.

These statements followed revelations regarding alleged corruption in the management of crude oil and refinery products within PT Pertamina’s subholding and Cooperation Contract Contractors (KKKS) from 2018 to 2023. The case is suspected to have caused state financial losses amounting to IDR 193.7 trillion.

The Attorney General’s Office reported that in the procurement of refinery products by PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, the company’s former President Director, Riva Siahaan, was accused of purchasing RON 92 fuel while actually acquiring RON 90 or lower.

The lower-grade fuel was then blended at storage facilities to reach RON 92, a practice that is prohibited.

These allegations have sparked public concerns regarding the quality of Pertamina’s RON 92 fuel, marketed as Pertamax.

In response, the Research and Development Center for Oil and Gas Technology (Lemigas) conducted fuel sample tests at various Pertamina gas stations. The results confirmed that all tested gasoline samples met the specifications set by the government.
