KAI Still Diverts Semarang-Surabaya Route Due to Broken Gubug-Karangjati Rail Line

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) is still implementing route diversion for 30 train trips on the Semarang - Surabaya route.
This was done due to the disconnection of the rail line between Gubug Station and Karangjati Station, Grobogan Regency, Central Java, due to flooding. This policy will last until February 5, 2025 in accordance with the target for completion of the track repairs.
Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 4 Semarang, Franoto Wibowo, revealed that the affected line had been disrupted for 12 days. As a solution, the train trip was diverted via Solo, Yogyakarta - Purwokerto - Cirebon. In addition to the route diversion, PT KAI also canceled eight train trips until the line can operate normally again.
To accelerate the normalization of the line, PT KAI continues to make repairs by building a 5-meter high embankment on the north side of the rails. This embankment aims to anticipate the potential for further flooding that could disrupt the train line again.
Franoto ensured that PT KAI is committed to maintaining the smoothness and safety of train travel for passengers. The party is targeting that the repairs can be completed on time so that the Semarang-Surabaya train journey can return to normal.
