Louvre Museum to be Renovated, Mona Lisa Painting Moved to Special Room

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Louvre Museum in Paris will undergo a major renovation to improve the visitor experience. The renovation with the theme "Louvre New Renaissance" brings several new things.
One of the changes is the plan to move the Mona Lisa painting to a special room that can only be accessed with certain tickets.
Reported by CNN, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that this step will reduce the density in the museum while providing an opportunity for visitors to enjoy Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece more comfortably.
So far, the Mona Lisa has been displayed in the largest room of the Louvre behind protective glass. However, its popularity makes the area always crowded with tourists who want to take pictures, often ignoring other works of art around it.
Paintings by great artists such as Titian and Veronese often go unnoticed because visitors are too focused on one work. With this relocation, the museum hopes to create a more balanced experience for all visitors.
The Louvre itself has experienced a surge in tourists that far exceeds its initial capacity. When it was last renovated in the 1980s, the museum was designed to accommodate around 4 million visitors a year. But last year, that number jumped to 8.7 million.
In addition to overcrowding, the Louvre also faces maintenance challenges. The museum’s director, Laurence des Cars, reported increasingly alarming conditions, such as water leaks and unstable temperatures that pose risks to the art collection.
With this project, the government hopes to create a more comfortable atmosphere for visitors while ensuring that the art collection is preserved for future generations.
