Traffic Management for New Year’s Eve in Jakarta

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - On December (24/2024), the DKI Jakarta Department of Transportation (Dishub) announced major traffic changes for New Year’s Eve 2025.
“We will implement traffic control at three key locations during the ‘Semarak Jakarta Mendunia’ event,” said Syafrin Liputo, Head of Dishub DKI Jakarta as quoted from Antara.
The traffic adjustments will cover Sudirman, Thamrin, and Merdeka Barat, with road closures from Harmoni to Majapahit. A total of 30 road sections will be blocked to ensure safety during the car-free night.
In addition to these areas, car-free night events will also take place around Lapangan Banteng and Kota Tua. Roads such as Jalan Perwira will be restricted, and vehicles will be redirected to nearby streets like Jalan Kunir and Kemukus.
Dishub DKI Jakarta has also identified 24 parking spots along Sudirman-Thamrin, providing space for over 17,000 motorcycles and nearly 22,000 cars. However, public transport is encouraged, as Transjakarta, MRT, and LRT services will be free from December 31 to January 1.
The city will operate Transjakarta buses 24/7 across 13 corridors, deploying over 2,150 buses. Additionally, the odd-even rule will not apply on December 30-31 and January 1, but will remain in effect from December 23-27.
