Prepare Your Umbrellas: BMKG Predicts Rain of Varying Intensity Today

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - On Tuesday, (12/17/2024), the BMKG forecasts rain with varying intensities across major cities in Indonesia.

"Rain is expected in most cities, ranging from light showers in Padang and Tanjung Pinang to moderate rainfall in Pekanbaru," said BMKG forecaster Maria Klaudiana during an online weather briefing.

Cities in Java are generally expected to experience rain, with light showers in Semarang, Surabaya, and Bandung, while moderate rain is predicted for Jakarta. "Watch out for thunderstorms in Serang and Yogyakarta," she added.

In Kalimantan, light rain will occur in Pontianak, Palangka Raya, and Banjarmasin, while thunderstorms are expected in Tanjung Selor and Samarinda. Similarly, Sulawesi will see rain, with light showers in Manado and Gorontalo, moderate rain in Makassar, and thunderstorms in Mamuju.

The eastern regions of Indonesia will also see rainfall. While Manokwari is forecasted to remain cloudy, light rain will fall on cities like Ternate, Ambon, Sorong, and Jayapura, with moderate rain predicted in Merauke.

  • Padang, Tanjung Pinang, Semarang, Surabaya, Bandung, Denpasar, Mataram, Kupang, Pontianak, Palangka Raya, Banjarmasin, Manado, Gorontalo, Palu, Kendari, Ternate, Ambon, Sorong, Nabire, Jayapura, Jayawijaya.

Moderate Rain:

  • Pekanbaru, Jakarta, Makassar, Merauke.

Thunderstorms:

  • Banda Aceh, Medan, Jambi, Bengkulu, Palembang, Pangkal Pinang, Bandar Lampung, Serang, Yogyakarta, Tanjung Selor, Samarinda, Mamuju.

Cloudy:

  • Manokwari.
