Erick Thohir Praises Direct Jakarta-Semarang Train as Public Innovation
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - On Monday, (12/9/2024), Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir highlighted the launch of the direct Jakarta-Semarang train as a breakthrough in improving public transportation. This non-transit service aims to offer greater convenience and efficiency to travelers.
During the trial run from Gambir Station to Semarang Tawang Station, Erick was joined by Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, PT KAI CEO Didiek Hartantyo, and Presidential Envoy Raffi Ahmad. “This initiative is a solution for better service, providing a direct route to Semarang,” Erick stated on Tuesday.
The innovation has garnered significant public interest, evident from the high demand for tickets. “We hope influencers like Raffi Ahmad can help promote this service, as tickets are already sold out,” Erick noted, emphasizing the growing public enthusiasm.
The train’s 11 p.m. departure offers flexibility for nighttime travelers, supported by upgraded facilities at Gambir Station, such as showers, lockers, food options, and pharmacies. Erick commended these enhancements as part of efforts to elevate the passenger experience.
This initiative aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to improve public services. Erick expressed gratitude for the collaboration between BUMN, the Ministry of Transportation, and PT KAI, calling it a significant step forward for the nation’s transportation system.
