SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Rainfall is forecasted to affect much of Indonesia on Tuesday, (12/10/2024), with varying intensities across regions.
"Java is expected to experience light to heavy rain, including thunderstorms in Semarang, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya," said BMKG forecaster Efa Septiani. Cities like Jakarta, Serang, and Bandung are likely to see moderate rainfall throughout the day.
On Sumatra, cities such as Banda Aceh, Medan, and Padang will experience light to moderate rain. "Palembang could face heavy rain with thunderstorms, while Jambi and Pangkal Pinang will have overcast skies," the agency added. Over on Bali and Nusa Tenggara, Denpasar and Mataram may see moderate rain, while Kupang is predicted to face heavy downpours.
In Kalimantan, thunderstorms with strong winds are expected in Tanjung Selor and Banjarmasin. "Meanwhile, Pontianak, Palangka Raya, and Samarinda will likely experience light to moderate rain," BMKG explained. Similar conditions are anticipated in Sulawesi, where Mamuju, Manado, and Kendari may see thunderstorms, while Makassar, Gorontalo, and Palu are expected to have lighter rain.
Eastern Indonesia will generally experience light to moderate rainfall, affecting cities such as Sorong, Ambon, and Jayapura. "Heavy rain with lightning and strong winds is likely in Merauke," Efa Septiani warned. Residents in these areas are encouraged to monitor updates and stay alert for potential weather disruptions.
BMKG also highlights the availability of their weather application for real-time updates. "The app provides refreshed weather forecasts every three hours, helping citizens stay informed," the agency concluded.
