SEAToday.com, Jakarta- As South Korea faces increasing political turmoil, US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell expressed “grave concern” over the developments.

"We have every hope and expectation that any political disputes in South Korea will be resolved peacefully and in accordance with the rule of law," Campbell stated during a Tuesday event at the US State Department as quoted from Guardian.

China’s embassy in Seoul has also issued a warning to its citizens in South Korea, urging them to "exercise caution" following the imposition of martial law.

In a statement, the embassy advised Chinese nationals to "remain calm" and stay informed about the ongoing political situation while avoiding unnecessary outings.

The UK government has joined international calls for vigilance, with a spokesperson confirming that they are "closely monitoring developments in South Korea." The spokesperson also recommended that British nationals stay updated through the UK's travel advice and follow local authorities' guidance.

These international statements underscore global concern about the political instability in South Korea, as foreign governments urge their citizens to take precautions. The increasing involvement of global powers signals the broader implications of the crisis for the region’s stability.

As of December 4, 2024, the situation continues to escalate, with multiple governments observing South Korea's response to President Yoon’s controversial martial law declaration. The international community is watching closely, hoping for a peaceful resolution.
