BMKG: Thunderstorms to Hit Major Indonesian Cities on Thursday
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) warns that light to heavy rains, accompanied by thunderstorms, will impact numerous major cities across Indonesia today, Thursday, (11/14/2024).
In Jakarta, BMKG meteorologist Eriska noted that light rainfall, under 2.5 mm per hour, is expected in many areas, while other cities may face heavier rain conditions.
For regions like Serang, moderate rainfall with rates above 4.0 mm per hour and temperatures between 24-31 degrees Celsius is forecasted.
More intense rain, exceeding 50 mm per hour, along with thunderstorms, could affect cities such as Padang, Bengkulu, Palembang, Mataram, Banjarmasin, Manado, Mamuju, and Merauke.
Meanwhile, Banda Aceh, Lampung, Jayapura, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, and Ambon are expected to remain overcast or foggy, with temperatures ranging from 25-30 degrees Celsius throughout the day. For Yogyakarta and Kupang, clear skies with light clouds are expected.
