A Year of Israeli Attack on Gaza, a Nightmare for Palestinians
SEAToday.com, Gaza-It has been a year since the first Israel attack on Gaza which took place on October 7, 2023. During the year-long attack, many Palestinians were killed, injured, and displaced.
According to reports, Israel has bombed more than 40,000 targets, found 4,700 tunnels, and destroyed 1,000 rocket launchers, which killed nearly 42,000 Palestinians.
Due to these attacks, buildings in Gaza were badly damaged. The Israeli attacks have destroyed Palestinian infrastructures, such as houses, hospitals, schools, and other buildings, including cultural heritage sites.
According to UNESCO, 69 cultural heritage sites in Gaza were destroyed, including 10 religious sites, 43 historical buildings, six monuments, one museum, and seven archaeological sites.
Despite that, Israel insisted that their attack on Gaza was a form of retaliation and accused Hamas as the war initiator by launching an attack earlier to Israel.
To mark the one year attack by Hamas, Israel held a one-year commemoration event in Tel Aviv on Sunday (10/6) local time. In this commemoration, the faces of the victims were displayed on the screen at the entrance to the ceremony while people lit candles.
Israel claimed that Hamas' attacks on their territory have resulted in around 1,200 casualties. Moreover, Hamas holds around 250 people hostage, 150 of whom have been released while the remaining 100 are still held captive.
Although Israel insisted that their attack on Gaza was because of Hamas, many people around the world have joined the movement to condemn Israel's attack on Gaza. Some countries have also begun to acknowledge Palestine as a state.
